Field & Marine Dual Time
The first waterproof watch with 24h dual time and power reserve complications and a bicompax dial layout.
BUILT FOR THE TRENCHES
The harsh conditions of WWI trenches required a water-resistant and mustard gas resistant watch which until then did not exist. The bayonet crown, clinched bezel and compressor case-back technology have been developed by Charles Depollier in collaboration with Waltham and the United States Army Engineering & Research Division in Washington D.C. for this purpose. Still today, the Field & Marine is the only watch with a bayonet crown.
A watch born from American scientific and industrial ingenuity.
The original patent
The bayonet crown of the Field & Marine has been developed on the basis of the original patent granted on January 28th in 1919. In total four patents for screw down crowns have been filed by Depollier and Waltham team between 1917 and 1919.
BAYONET CROWN
A technology from the early 1900s and still today the most robust, reliable and user-friendly one. Together, the decompression case-back, the clinched bezel and the bayonet crown constitute the 30ATM waterproof construction of the Field & Marine.
